Our dream was always to own our own tea rooms and we love the Yorkshire Dales so what could be more perfect. We started the business back in May 2015 and at that time we ran it alongside another business. It became clear Tea on the Green was too much of an opportunity not to give it full focus and explore its potential and in December 2016 we left the other business behind to solely focus on the this great little Tea room.
With the refurbishment of the rear outside seating area in summer 2016 it really has become a relaxing and sunny space to start or finish your day at Bolton Abbey.
We both absolutely love owning and operating ‘Tea on the Green’ and it is a pleasure to be part of the Bolton Abbey experience. We have met some lovely people along the way and proud to have a regular customer base and it brings a smile every time we see a familiar face coming through the door. We are also so overwhelmed by comments from new customers on the quality, the service and their overall visit; it’s wonderful that this loyalty is growing all the time.
We have a small team who support us on a daily basis who we could not be without. They are amazing, most of them have been with us since the beginning and as the business has grown we have brought a couple of new members into the team. We rely on them to look after you and they never let us down. Read more about our team here.
In January 2018, with the help of the Bolton Abbey estate team, we were able to further develop the space to gain access to the roof void. This has given us much need storage space and created a different aspect to the main seating area with the stylish new open staircase. We also now have a small production kitchen upstairs where you will find Stuart every morning doing his baking, making soups and cooking up something new.
